As we stated in our December newsletter, the new year brought big changes for MSNA members. And it did! This includes the crafting of a 5-year strategic plan, changes in leadership, returning to in-person conferences, and more.

The 2022 Minnesota state legislative session is entering its final phase. What would traditionally be a slower year of activity has turned into quite the active session for school nutrition programs and advocates. Darcy Stueber, SNS, MSNA Public Policy Chair, and Sam Walseth, MSNA Lobbyist, cover what's been happening at the federal and state level.

Secretary/Treasurer's Report

Vickie Speltz, MSNA's Secretary and Treasurer, gives an update on MSNA's financials. Vickie is finishing up 2021 taxes and planning the budget for the annual conference.

Last fall lent excellent opportunities to industry members, including the vendor show in August and the SNIP conference in November. The Executive Board is working on projects to take MSNA to another level and to reenergize our partnership!

MSNA's new Executive Director, Margaret Winchell, has had a busy last few months, transitioning into the role after Sharon Maus, previous Executive Director, retired. Margaret and her colleague, Noelle Hulshizer, have dove right into the work of the association.
