Awards, Scholarships & Nominations, Oh My!

Lori Landowski, MSNA Membership Services Chair, is excited to announce a variety of happenings within MSNA and SNA.
|
SNA Awards Open: Nominations for the Employee, Manager, and Director of the Year Awards are now being accepted through March 1, 2024. SNA award nomination information can be found on the SNA website.
MSNA Awards Open: Nominate an outstanding individual or team. Hero and Hero Site Award nominations are due March 1, 2024. Find nomination information on the MSNA website.
Scholarships: MSNA has four $500 scholarships available! The deadline to apply is March 1, 2024. Apply for a scholarship here.

A new mentor-mentee program has launched this year, aiming to provide guidance and encouragement to new directors. A few pairings have began since the program launched, and one of our mentees, Janine Teske, lets us know how her partnership has benefitted her.

The Minnesota Department of Education has been awarded a number of exciting new programs and funding to better children's lives and learning environments this past legislative session. It was a historical year of wins for children and schools. Emily Honer, Director of Nutrition Program Services at MDE explains.

Michele Hawkinson now has a few months under her belt as MSNA President. Hear Michele's updates on preparing for the new year, updates on the strategic plan, and more.

The impact of Minnesota’s free school lunch and breakfast program is being felt across the state. Darcy Stueber, SNS, MSNA Public Policy Chair, and Sam Walseth, MSNA Lobbyist, have reviewed your feedback on the Free Meals program, and discuss issues that may be taken to the Capitol.

Executive Director Update

And just like that, Fusion Learning Partners' second year with MSNA has come and gone. MSNA's Executive Director, Margaret Winchell, describes what the year has entailed and how MSNA is looking ahead to 2024 as she and her colleague, Noelle Hulshizer continue the work of the association.

Thank you for supporting the Minnesota School Nutrition Association by being an industry member in 2023. As the year is coming to a close, that means it is time to renew your MSNA industry membership for 2024. To renew your membership, watch for an email from [email protected] that will come December 23. The email will contain your invoice and a link to pay via credit card or you can choose to mail a check. If you would like to pay via ACH, please email your request to MSNA. If you do not receive this email, you can also log into your account and renew your membership here.
